Link2Peace is a new, collaborative organization responding to the violence against women and children in the world. We are based in Houston, Texas, but the World Wide Web is our venue. Our mission is to build peace, one link at a time.

Last April, a group of us were inspired by the remarkable Sister Joan Chittister, who delivered a call to action in a speech given in Houston entitled “Women, Power and Peace; A New Way to Tell the Story.” For your interest click here to learn more about Chittister and her speech which was first delivered in a forum on peace with the Dali Lama.

Our first step in responding to Sister Joan’s call was to learn as much as we could about the already existing organizations dedicated to the empowerment of women who suffer in war-torn countries and oppressive situations. We found that our awareness of the severity of the situation, both locally and globally, was greatly enhanced by spending time on the very fine web sites created by various organizations across the globe.

It occurred to us that our mission could center around nurturing and highlighting already existing organizations by linking them together so that an individual, wanting to learn what she or he might do to respond to violence against women and children, could access a number of web sites through our Link2Peace process.

Our mission has become to build peace by empowering women through local and global organizations, one link at a time. With one click, and then another, our visitor can discover what action she or he may take to support and empower women in need, both locally and globally.
